Meet the Team

Group 206 (2)

Unlike most companies, our story didn’t start with a product. Our founder El recognised
the barriers faced by many women who have to go for potentially lifesaving diagnostic
procedures, after experiencing a horrible and degrading experience herself from initial
screening and treatment. So, she decided to make a change and Equalita Healthcare was
created with the one goal, to improve privacy and safeguarding, lessen health inequalities
and reduce barriers to attendance.

Founder of

After becoming a patient, myself, I decided to make a change for my daughter.
There's not a lot to like about gynaecological appointments, but when I became a patient myself, I realised just how many of us feel this way.
Exposure, degradation and a frustrating lack of choice over our care- these were things our appointments didn't need to be. I knew that it was about time we made a change.
My goal was simple: to make a change to just one patient by offering an alternative to compulsory, and needless, nudity. We hoped to eradicate an outdated standard.
When my daughter is ready for her first lifesaving screening, I'll be proud to offer her that choice.

Chris Bitterli

Commercial Director

I’ve spent the past 30 years working in healthcare in this country and abroad and am passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives by putting them at the heart of how healthcare is delivered.

Too often, the systems we use favour the organisation delivering the service and not the individual.

What really struck me about this product is how simple it is and yet it can have such a huge impact, to the point of potentially saving the lives.

Medical Director

As a full-time doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, I ensure our products can be relied upon by patients, whilst meeting the demands of clinical procedures.

Having first-hand experience of the difficulties patients face during appointments, I immediately recognised the need for this innovation and the impact it could have on patient outcomes.

Physical examinations may be more challenging when patients are tense, anxious, or cold by triggering pain, discomfort and/or inadequate examinations that require recalls. Negative experiences may reduce the likelihood that patients reattend in the future, thus delaying the detection of gynaecological conditions.

Fulfilling patient needs allows clinicians to care for patients more efficiently and more effectively.
